  • May 13, 2024: KRCS Candidate Search Update

    Dear King's Ridge Family,

What an amazing month it has been at King's Ridge Christian School! We celebrated a terrific graduation ceremony for our seniors, hosted the Black & White Gala to honor our incredible fine arts program, and cheered on our varsity baseball team, which finished as regional champions and competed in the Final Four of the state championship. We have so much to be proud of!

As the school year winds down, our searches for the Interim Head of School and Head of High School are gaining momentum. We've received a tremendous response to our search efforts and have amassed two very talented candidate pools.

This week, candidates for the Interim Head of School and Head of High School positions will visit our campus. They will meet with a cross-section of parents, faculty, staff, and students, as well as the Board committees working on the two searches. Given our progress so far, we expect to have the final candidates approved and selected in June for both roles.

Concurrent with the interviews this week, CarterBaldwin, our search consultant, will also be on campus to gather input and build the candidate profile for our permanent Head of School search.

I'm grateful for the time and effort so many are investing in our search processes. There is no doubt God is in this. Thank you for devoting time each day over these last few weeks to our 31 Days of Prayer. It was wonderful to see our community unified as we committed ourselves to praising the Lord and seeking His guidance for our students, faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, and future school leaders. Please continue to pray for the work being done and that the Lord leads the right administrators to King's Ridge Christian School.

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

    Sincerely,

    Ben Ackerman

  • May 2, 2024: Head of School Search Update

    Dear King's Ridge Family,

I am writing to update you on the Head of School search and our prayerful work to find the next leader for King's Ridge Christian School. As a reminder, you can find this search update and all related information on our website HERE.

Typically, Head of School searches take about six to nine months. Since most candidates likely have contractual commitments with their current schools until June 2025, we aim to ensure that KRCS has the essential leadership for the upcoming school year. Consequently, the Board has decided to hire a one-year Interim Head of School as we search for a permanent leader.

    Interim Head of School

The main benefit of utilizing an Interim Head of School is that it enables us to continue the excellent work and momentum of our school, supporting our growth while affording us the necessary time to conduct a comprehensive search for our future leader. Interim Heads of Schools are common and have been successfully utilized by other schools in our community.

We aim to select an Interim Head of School by June who will be a strong Christ follower and a deeply experienced Christian school leader at schools similar to KRCS in size, scope, and mission.

The process of selecting the Interim Head will be similar to selecting the permanent Head of School but on an accelerated basis.

    • We expect to identify two to three interim candidate finalists in May.
    • Those finalists will be invited to campus for a series of interviews with the Board and other community members.
    • We will update you on our progress as the interim selection process progresses.

    Head of School

Concurrent with the Interim Head of School search, we are launching the search for our permanent Head of School. Our goal is to have a decision by January 2025, with the new leader starting in July 2025.

    • Candidate Profile: The essential first step in the search process will be the development of the candidate profile.
      • We are looking for an experienced leader who is a strong follower of Jesus.
      • The ideal candidate will promote academic rigor, foster a positive school culture, provide steadfast leadership for the school's future, and support all aspects of school life, including academics, arts, and athletics.
      • We are also identifying specific characteristics we seek in the next Head of School. To accomplish this, we'll host a series of listening sessions across the school community to ensure our search reflects the voice of our families, faculty, staff, and students. Look for more information on that in the weeks to come.

    • Timeline: Our objective is to identify and recruit candidates through late summer/early fall to select a pool of semifinalists and finalists. We will invite final candidates to campus for day-long interviews in the fall and expect to announce our next Head of School by the time we return from Christmas break.

    • Search Consultant: CarterBaldwin, who is also supporting our Head of High School search, will assist with this search. Their role is to structure the recruitment and candidate identification process and help us stay consistent with our timeline and search profile. However, the Board of Trustees will ultimately make the selection itself with strong input from our school community.

    • Board Search Committee: The Board has named a search committee for both our permanent Head of School and the Interim Head of School role. The Board committee is:

      • Ben Ackerman, Chair
      • Shane Jackson, Vice Chair
      • Jonathan Lucenay, Chair, Christian Life Committee
      • Jackie Littlefield, Chair, Advancement Committee
      • Susan Galbreath, Chair, Nominating Committee
      • Angie Hudson, Chair, Finance Committee
      • Rodney Smith, Chair, Building & Grounds Committee

    • Spiritual Structure: As Chair of the Christian Life Committee, Jonathan Lucenay will support our efforts through a prayer framework that ensures we lean on the Lord in all ways and that our work is Spirit-led. Additionally, his team will lead a rigorous evaluation of the candidates' Christ-centered walk and heartfelt commitment to our mission, vision, and passion.

    • Seeking Your Prayers: We ask for your prayers for this entire process and the hearts of those involved in the search.

      • As we search for both our interim and permanent Head of School, we seek the wisdom of God, the strength of Christ, and the discernment of the Holy Spirit.
      • Your prayers are critical.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Only through His guidance will we make the right selection for King's Ridge Christian School.

We are grateful for every member of the KRCS community, and we look forward to working with you on these important leadership decisions and celebrating the many milestones the end of this school year brings.

    Sincerely,

  • April 12, 2024: Head of High School Search Update

Dear King's Ridge Christian School Families,

I hope everyone had a restful Easter and spring break and is ready to finish the school year strong.

As a follow-up to our email two weeks ago, I wanted to provide everyone with an update on the Head of High School search process.

The team is in place, and the process is underway to find the next high school leader God has chosen for King's Ridge Christian School. In addition to the Board and interview committee announced late last month, the search process will also include members of the KRCS leadership team, high school department chairs, and the Christian education department. While the final hiring decision will be made by the Board of Trustees, the goal is a robust interview and selection process that involves broad participation from the school community.

Here are a few updates since our last communication:

    • Upon reviewing the survey results in which many of you participated, it is clear KRCS is seeking a strong Jesus follower who upholds Christian principles, promotes academic rigor, fosters a positive school culture, provides steadfast leadership for the school's future, and supports all aspects of school life including academics, arts, and sports.
    • From a timeline perspective, the goal is to identify a new Head of High School by late May/early June and ensure the selected leader aligns with the mission, vision, and passion that define KRCS.
    • The selection process will be thorough and include multiple stages—from application review and candidate selection to in-depth interviews and onsite campus tours—ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of each potential leader.
    • CarterBaldwin, our search firm, has already received numerous applications and continues to actively recruit prospective candidates. They have reported a promising pool of candidates, reflecting the attractive nature of this leadership opportunity.
As you know, the Head of High School search is running parallel to but ahead of the search for a new Head of School. On a regular basis, Ben Ackerman, the chair of the Board of Trustees, will provide future email updates on both searches to ensure you are well-informed and know how best to pray for the process and progress. This and future email updates can also be found on the KRCS website, linked here.

In this time of transition, I know those involved in the search process will lean on your prayers and support. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths." This truth, fortified by faith, will not only sustain but propel KRCS to new heights of excellence and community unity.

May God bless you, your family, and King's Ridge Christian School!

  • March 11, 2024: Head of High School Search Update

Dear King's Ridge Christian School Families,

We hope this letter finds you well and enjoying a wonderful second half of our school year.

As we look ahead to the 2024-2025 school year, I'm writing today to update you on the search for our Head of High School and alert you to an opportunity for you to be involved in the process.

As you know, we strive for excellence in all we do, and our faculty and staff embody this core tenet of who we are. To identify the best next Head of High School, we have begun organizing an interview committee and will be working with a professional search firm to find qualified candidates who understand and align with our mission.

King's Ridge Christian School has retained the services of Atlanta-based CarterBaldwin Executive Search to conduct an extensive, national search to identify our next Head of High School. A leading firm in faith-based, not-for-profit executive searches, CarterBaldwin has recently successfully placed the Heads of Schools at Fellowship Christian School, Mt. Paran Christian School, and Mt. Pisgah Christian School.

While CarterBaldwin is selecting candidates, we will establish an interview committee to assist in the hiring process. The interview committee will be comprised of four parents, four faculty and staff members, and one of our students (the soon-to-be-announced Class of 2025 Head Prefect). This committee will collaborate with the school to build an interview guide for the Head of High School role and will undergo interview training before ultimately holding interviews with prospective candidates. The interview committee, along with leadership at the school, will give extensive feedback on the candidates that the committee feels could be a good fit for King's Ridge Christian School.

    Here's How You Can Help:

    • We would love for you to nominate individuals!
      • This week, you can submit potential candidates to the interview committee by emailing interviewcommittee@kingsridgecs.org.
      • We will accept nominations through March 18.
      • You will be contacted by March 25 if selected for the interview committee.
      • Interview committee training and meetings will be held after school hours in April.
      • Interviews are anticipated to be held in May.
    • Additionally, a link to a brief survey will be available the week of March 18. In it, we will ask you to rank characteristics and qualities you would like to see represented in our next Head of High School. Your participation is vital to this process, and we greatly appreciate your contribution.

    Upcoming Communication Dates:

    • Week of March 18 - Survey Request
    • March 28 - Interview Committee Announced
    • April 12 - Update on the Search and Feedback from the Survey

In the meantime, until the end of this academic year in May, Dr. Abby May will continue as the acting Head of High School. After that, she has decided to begin a new career journey as the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for the Pickens County School District. We are so grateful for her time at KRCS, her contributions to the entire school community, and her assistance with the high school this year during its transition.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Chief of Staff, Melanie Ellis, at mellis@kingsridgecs.org.

May God bless you, your family, and King's Ridge Christian School!
