Dear King's Ridge Christian School Community,
We are so blessed and privileged to have had Dr. Jeff Williams serve as our Head of King's Ridge Christian School. Over the past five years, Jeff's impact on our school and our Christian community has been immeasurable. It will be felt by this community for many years to come. Jeff has led our school with an amazing love for Jesus Christ while leading our faculty and staff to fulfill God's mission for King's Ridge Christian School: to be a Christian community providing a college preparatory education equipping students to know, to serve, and to believe. His departure at the end of this school year marks the end of one era and the beginning of a new one. One marked with optimism and encouragement. The state of King's Ridge Christian School is strong, and we look forward to seeing all that God has in store for KRCS in the years ahead.
Over the six months since Dr. Williams informed the Board of his intention to return to Texas, the Search Committee has sought God's wisdom and clarity in finding KR's next Head of School. With the help of NextEd, an executive search firm focused solely on Christian schools, the Search Committee conducted a comprehensive, nationwide search. We were blessed to interview countless qualified candidates who aligned with our mission, vision, and passion and who had a desire to continue what God is doing here at King's Ridge. This process not only revealed God's choice for our next Head of School but also served as an affirmation of how amazing our King's Ridge community truly is.

After a thorough process and much prayer from the entire King's Ridge community, we are very pleased to announce our very own Dr. Edward Spurka as the fourth Head of King's Ridge Christian School. Dr. Spurka will succeed Dr. Williams on July 1, 2022. Dr. Spurka was unanimously selected from a national pool of impressive candidates. He comes to King's Ridge with more than 25 years of experience and dynamic leadership in delivering excellence in schools. Most recently, Dr. Spurka served under Dr. Williams as the Head of Secondary Education here at King's Ridge and, prior to that, Head of School for Pinecrest Academy.
Dr. Spurka began his education career in Pennsylvania in 1992. He earned two degrees, including one in Special Education, from West Chester University while also starting as quarterback for their football team. He later earned his doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Georgia. Dr. Spurka held many educational positions here in Georgia over the past 25 years, including teaching positions at South Forsyth and Milton High Schools, assistant principal roles at Brookwood and Roswell High Schools, principal at Roswell High School for eight years, and the founding principal of Cambridge High School for eight years. Dr. Spurka is a four-time recipient of the Governor's High Performance Principal award, and he was twice named as the Outstanding Principal of the Year by the Georgia PTA.
After many years in the North Fulton County School System, Dr. Spurka felt called to bring his educational leadership skills and Christian faith to lead students in Christian-based education. After serving as Head of School at Pinecrest Academy, he was called to serve as Head of Secondary Education here at King's Ridge Christian School under Dr. Williams. Dr. Spurka joined the team at the beginning of the COVID pandemic, making his start challenging in the middle of one of the most unusual times in education. He adjusted to the new environment and brought great leadership as we navigated the 2020-2021 school year virtual, hybrid, and face-to-face. Dr. Spurka's educational expertise, as well as his positive outlook, was transformational as he led grades 5 – 12 successfully through a pandemic.

With a heart for Jesus Christ and our students, Dr. Spurka will continue to steward the incredible work God is doing here at King's Ridge. He will enhance and protect our mission, steer us towards our vision, and unapologetically fulfill our purpose to bring every student into a personal growing relationship with Jesus Christ while equipping them to do with excellence all that God has called them to do. These next six months will be months of transformation instead of months of transition!
Ed is married to Leslie, who works for Cox Enterprises. Their son, Britt, graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in finance and is currently attending law school at Georgia State. Their daughter, Ann, attends Monmouth University, majoring in elementary education and playing on the women's tennis team. The Spurkas attend Browns Bridge Church and have two Goldendoodles named Maevis and McCoy. Dr. Spurka is an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Philadelphia Eagles. He also loves to go on hikes with his dogs and play golf.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Spurka and his family to the KRCS community.
Sincerely,
Ben Ackerman
