Lower, Middle and High School students have many opportunities to participate in a variety of vocal performances.
The Lower School program includes a talented group of 3rd and 4th grade students who rehearse once a week after school. Throughout the school year they perform at a variety of events including Christmas at the Ridge. Music is offered to each Lower School grade once a week and does a grade level musical performance. Under the direction of Nicholas Wheeler, who brings his credits as a composer and accomplished violinist, students discover the power of music.
Under the direction of Jenny Piacente who is also the founder and conductor of the Greater Atlanta Girls Choir, the vocal arts program at King’s Ridge Christian School has expanded to new levels of enrollment and excitement. The Middle School programs offered include a 5th and 6th grade chorus and 7th and 8th grade chorus. Students continue to build on the foundational skills taught in general music and develop theory, sight-reading, and ear training skills that will carry them through High School and beyond. Performances include a Fall concert, Christmas at the Ridge and Spring concert. Students are eligible to audition for GMEA All-State Chorus. The 2018 school year had two accomplished 8th grade students make the All-State Chorus. All Middle School students have the opportunity to audition for the Middle School Musicals.
In High School, the King’s Ridge Voices continue to improve their performance and vocal techniques through genres of music to expand their exposure and knowledge. Music theory continues to be the foundation of the program with AP Music Theory offered by recommendation. Students will work on note reading skills, intonation, rhythm, articulation, dynamics, and balance. Performances include Christmas at the Ridge, Large Group Performance Evaluation, Black and White Gala and Commencement. All High School students have the opportunity to audition for the High School Musical.
